A Completely Selfish Post. Please Read.

October 29, 2015

This is a really selfish post. So forgive me ahead of time. But Im going to gloat a bit here. I can't help myself.

About 6 years ago, during a hellish part of the Great Recession, Rocky and I bought 15 Broad Street in Akron.

This was probably the most terrifying business move weve ever made.

But now I count it as one of the best business moves weve ever made.

It is a magical building. I cant believe we own it. Its super beautiful and has a super amazing story.

Weve had several people come in and talk about being born in our building. It was once Green Cross Hospital in the 50s.

I see the building as a palette. Its a place where people can come together and create something out of nothing.

That's my vision. And it's happening.

Many things have happened there since Rocky and I have been the stewards of the building.

Recently we have offered the lower level of the building to artists, free of charge. Their payment is to help make the lower level cool again.

Because of this we are kicking off a whole new era of the building.

Our building, 15 Broad Street in Akron will be hosting Wandering Aesthetics. They will have a series of solo storytelling performances in our building of Boogers, Witches and Haints: Spooky Stories from Appalachia.

Im SO excited about this.

In 2013, Wandering Aesthetics co-artistic directors completed a thru-hike of the 2,185.9-mile Appalachian Trail. But they didnt come back alone…

Master Storyteller Kyle Jozsa leads audiences on a spine-tingling journey into the heart of Appalachia. Intertwining real-life experiences with campfire stories collected on their adventure, Jozsa conjures Boogers, Witches and Haints off the AT and into the imagination. There are many chills, thrills, and laughs sprinkled throughout this hour-long solo performance.

The theater company also will have a special showing of its interactive, family-friendly production of Scared Silly on Nov. 8 at 2 p.m.

Performance dates and times are Oct. 29 and 30, and Nov. 5 through 7 at 8 p.m.

For details and tickets, visit http://www.watheatre.com/bwh online. Reservations can also be made by calling 3309905138.

Tickets will be available at the door - but seating is limited so pre-orders are recommended.

I havent seen it yet. But it sounds amazing.

The first showing will be Thursday, October 29. That's tonight!

The way we make Akron as awesome as possible is to support all the awesome people in the city.

Coming to this show is a great way to help stand behind the creative class of Akron. They are incredibly important to the fabric of our city.

So please come. And check out this building. I think you'll love it. I happen to think it's the coolest building in Akron.
